【摘要】:Thistestmethodisdesignedtomeasuretherelativeeffectivenessofinhibitorstomitigatepittingcorrosionofaluminumanditsalloys,inparticularAA3003-H14,rapidlyandreproducibly.Themeasurementsarenotintendedtocorrelatequantitativelywithothertestmethodvaluesorwithsusceptibilitytolocalizedcorrosionofaluminumobservedinservice.Qualitativecorrelationofthemeasurementsandsusceptibilityinservicehasbeenestablished(1).Themaximumpotentialreacheduponinitialpolarization,EB,isameasureoftheresistancetobreakdownofthealuminumoxidefilm.Lowersusceptibilitytoinitiationofpittingcorrosionisindicatedbyamorenoblepotential(SeePracticeG3andTerminologyG15.)Thispotential,asmeasuredinthistestmethod,isnotverysensitivetotheinhibitorspresent.Theminimumpotential,EG,followingthemaximumpotentialisameasureoftheprotectionagainstcontinuedpittingcorrosionbytheinhibitors.Again,amorenoblepotentialindicatesbetterprotection.Thispotentialissensitivetotheinhibitorspresent.Visualexaminationofthespecimenscanprovideinformationaboutsubletiesofthepittingandinhibitionmechanisms.Numberofpits,pitdepth,amountofdeposit,andsurfacediscolorationaresomeexamplesofrecordableobservations,whichcanassistevaluationofinhibitoreffectiveness.Thepresenceofchlorideinthetestsolutioniscriticaltoobservationofpittingcorrosion.Also,acoolant/corrosivewatersolutioninwhichgasbubblesevolvespontaneouslyonthealuminum(indicatinggeneralcorrosion)isunlikelytohaveasignificantamountofobservablepittingcorrosion.1.1Aproceduretodeterminetherepassivationpotentialofaluminumalloy3003-H14(UNSA93003)(1)asameasureofrelativesusceptibilitytopittingcorrosionbyconductingagalvanostaticpolarizationisdescribed.Aprocedurethatcanbeusedtocheckexperimentaltechniqueandinstrumentationisdescribed,aswell.1.2Thetestmethodservesasaguideforsimilarmeasurementonotheraluminumalloysandmetals(2-5).1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Valuesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
